Cervecería Sagrada | by José Guízar
I love these designs, very playful and imaginative. The variety of styles are named after fictional characters also inspired by the 50’s lucha style; Black King (Imperial Stout), Blond Gomez (Lager) and The Vampire’s Son (Red Ale).

PHILIPPE DUFOUR-LORIOLLE, 36 FASHION CONSULTANT, ILLUSTRATOR, GRAPHIC DESIGNER
INTERVIEW BY GNAM BOX
Hey Philippe you’re one of our first post on www.gnambox.tumblr.com and now we’re so glad to make this interview with you… hoping to meet each other very soon let’s start…
You are fashion consultant, illustrator, graphic designer… tell us about your studies, when you start drawing?I’ve been trough fine art school and engeneering textile school. But I never draw in Fine art school, i didn’t like that. I started drawing later on, when I realized not knowing how to draw wasnt a problem.Born in Montpellier now you live in Paris… tell us about your typical parisian dayComplaining about the weather! How long do you live in Paris? What’s your favourite place in the city?My bed. Where my friends are. This little unknown public roses garden hidden in the 3rd arrondissement.

© Julia Champeau
Tell us about your creativity… where do you get inspiration for your creations? What do you do when you’re creatively blocked? Both answers are «thinking about something else». It all comes by itself, at some point. What is the most inspiring place you’ve visited?People’s places. What do you communicate through your illustrations?Hopefully the fundamental idea of having a second thought about everything.“Summer kisses winter tears” is an Elvis’ song… what’s your favorite music? The one that makes you want the tune to last forever. Either it’s baroque music, experimental, noisy, shoegaze, vintage hip hop…Tell us about you collaboration with Olivier Borde… Are you close friends, isn’t it?We are. That means we don t have to talk a lot. We share different refences, meaning we can bring each other to many various different places.
Let’s talk about fashion… what’s your favorite fashion designer?                                  Apart Olivier? Dries van Noten, Rey Kawakubo, Yves St Laurent, Madeleine Vionner, Alexander McQueen…But I more believe in icons: Jane Birkin, Audrey Hepburn, David Bowie, Ginette Leclerc, Francoise Hardy, Peggy Guggenheim, Diana Vreeland, Catherine Ringer. Fasion is about what is given to you, style is about what you already have got.
What is the strangest article of clothing in your closet? My collection of sleevless sweaters I love them, I never wear anyone of them, because I just don t know how to. I look at them like a duck would look at a hammer with a fascinated and interogative uncomprehension. Most of your illustrations are made with a blue bic pen… is simplicity the key of your success? I hate to notice the effort done in any piece of work. I like the idea of immediatity, when you think the whole stuff came out effortless. Even if it didn t. And pens drawings are like words. Only bluer. What is your greatest fear?At times: loosing memory. At others, recovering it.What are your best/worst personality traits?I’m a good listener / I’m awfully talkative. What is your idea of vacation? Let the breeze turn the pages of the book i m reading. What is your favorite quote? «Boire frais et garder le sourire» something like «drink fresh and keep smiling»
I promised you that I’ll tattoo one of your illustration.. What do you think? You’ll still see my drawing when you’ll have forgotten my name. This is strange enough not to think further.Tell us about your t-shirt collection… are you satisfied?I’m happy to see the work finaly done! I don’t see my things in terms of «satisfaction». The work is done, or it’s not. I have neither proud nor shame about it. It’s there, and that means yo can now focus on the next project.

© Julia Champeau
How do you feel when somebody wears your t-shirts? Is it strange? It makes you feel like there’s still many friends you haven’t met yet. What makes you feel the most alive?Laying in the sun. Staring at the sea. Drawing. Are you a great cook? Favourite dish? You bet i am!But I don’t have favorite dish… why always choose between things to make ranges? You know it’s like colors. All colors are good, it depends for what they are used/how they are mixed… Same thing with food, one dish can be great at some point but terrible on another.Anyway my last big crush was for a steak alla Fiorentina: nothing like italian food.
Thanks a lot Philippe!! Can’t wait to wear your tees and one of your illustration…
